Event Description


Explore the old ways. And a few new ones, too.

The tradition of good food can be anyone’s inheritance, and anyone’s legacy. There may not be a meal that reflects this more than barbecue. Southern barbecue—cooked low and slow and seasoned with smoke—has roots in both the Old World and the New, from the Caribbean islands to Germany and France. For hundreds of years, immigrants have brought their own ideas about barbecue to the table—and to the pit—and we are the lucky heirs of these great traditions. 

We’ve got cast iron for days.

We’ll be looking ahead to the past during the Old North state dinner with the help of Noble Food & Pursuits lead by Chef Jim Noble and his culinary team, whose love of Southern barbecue is matched by his reverence for the many traditions that shaped it.  Noble Food & Pursuits will bring their celebrated cooking style to the great outdoors, one that features simple and honest food with a huge helping of hospitality.

Smoky swine. Fine wine.

We’ll be accompanied by their good friend Eric Solomon of European Cellars, who will share a selection of wines that bear their own rich traditions. A barbecue has long been the way to draw a crowd: political rallies, church picnics, neighborhood gatherings, and now, our very own Relish Carolina event.

A portion of the dinner’s proceeds will benefit The Kings Kitchen & Bakery.

Location

Location undisclosed. For a low fee, we will have seats available on a bus (a party in its own right) to get you to and from the feast safely. Stay tuned for details.
